87 — (He also cursed men who imitate women and women who imitate men. Narrated by al-Bukhārī and others.) p. 84
Authentic. It is from the hadith of Ibn ‘Abbās—may Allah be pleased with them both—and is fully referenced in the previous source (3/67).
88 — (The Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—counted among those cursed in this world and the Hereafter, with the angels saying “Amen” to their curse, a man whom Allah created male but who feminized himself and imitated women, and a woman whom Allah created female but who masculinized herself and imitated men. Narrated by al-Tabarānī.) p. 85
Weak. Al-Tabarānī narrated it in al-Mu‘jam al-Kabīr through ‘Alī ibn Yazīd al-Alhānī, with his chain of transmission from Abū Umāmah, who said: The Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—said:
“Four were cursed in this world and the Hereafter, and the angels said ‘Amen’: a man whom Allah created male but who feminized himself and imitated women; a woman whom Allah created female but who masculinized herself and imitated men; one who misleads a blind person; and a celibate man—although Allah made no one celibate except John, son of Zechariah.”
Al-Alhānī is abandoned, as al-Haythamī stated in al-Majma‘ (8/103). After indicating that the hadith was defective on account of al-Alhānī, al-Mundhirī said in al-Targhīb (3/106), “There is something anomalous about this hadith.”
I say: I found another chain for it, but it is no better than this one. Al-Wāhidī narrated it in al-Wasīt (2/114/3) from Hammād ibn ‘Abd al-Rahmān: Khālid ibn al-Zibriqān narrated to us, from Sulaymān ibn Habīb, from Abū Umāmah, as a report traced back to the Prophet, with similar wording.
