from Sa‘īd ibn Abī Hind, from Abū Sa‘īd, as al-Zayla‘ī mentioned. Allah knows best.
In sum, the hadith is authentic by virtue of these routes taken together.
78 — ‘Umar reported: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say:
“Do not wear silk, for whoever wears it in this world will not wear it in the Hereafter.”
Narrated by al-Bukhārī and Muslim, who also narrated a similar report from Anas. p. 81
Authentic. It was narrated by al-Bukhārī (4/83), Muslim (6/140), al-Nasā’ī (2/297), al-Tirmidhī (2/134), who declared it authentic, and Ahmad (1/20, 26, 36, 37, 39), from ‘Umar ibn al-Khattāb. It has several routes from him in al-Musnad. Al-Bukhārī and Muslim also narrated it, as did Ibn Mājah (3588) and Ahmad (3/101, 281), from Anas. Al-Tayālisī (2217) and Ahmad (3/23) narrated it from Abū Sa‘īd al-Khudrī. The former added at its beginning:
“Even if he enters Paradise, the inhabitants of Paradise will wear it, but he will not.”
The chain for this addition is weak.
79 — The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding a silk robe:
“This is only the clothing of one who has no share in the Hereafter.”
Narrated by al-Bukhārī and Muslim. p. 81
Authentic. It was narrated by al-Bukhārī (4/84), Muslim (6/138), Abū Dāwūd (4040), al-Nasā’ī (2/297), Ibn Mājah (3591), and Ahmad (1/46, 49), from ‘Umar—may Allah be pleased with him.
Al-Baghawī also narrated it in The Hadiths of ‘Alī ibn al-Ja‘d (fol. 46/1), saying: Shu‘bah informed us, from Qatādah, from Bakr ibn ‘Abd Allāh al-Muzanī, from Ibn ‘Umar, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said:
“Silk is the clothing of one who has no share in the Hereafter.”
