55 – (ʿAdī ibn Hātim reported: I said, “O Messenger of Allah, I shoot at game and then find my arrow in it the following day?” He replied: “If you know that your arrow killed it and see no trace of a predator on it, then eat it.” Al-Tirmidhī narrated it and declared it authentic.) p. 68
Authentic. Al-Tirmidhī (1/278) narrated it through Abū Dāwūd—that is, al-Tayālisī—and it is also found in his Musnad (1041); al-Nasāʾī (2/197) and Ahmad (4/377) narrated it through Abū Bishr, who said: “I heard Saʿīd ibn Jubayr narrate it from ʿAdī ibn Hātim.” Al-Tirmidhī said: “A sound, authentic hadith.” I say: It is authentic according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs. They also recorded a report conveying the same meaning, and I quoted Muslim’s wording six hadiths earlier.
56 – (In Sahih Muslim, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Abū Thaʿlaba al-Khushanī: “If you shoot your arrow and the game remains out of sight for three days, then you come upon it, eat it so long as it has not putrefied.”) p. 68
Authentic. Muslim (6/59), as well as al-Nasāʾī (2/197) and Ahmad (4/194), narrated it from Abū Thaʿlaba himself.
57 – (The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about drinks made from honey or from millet and barley, which were left to ferment until they became strong. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had been endowed with concise yet comprehensive speech, so he gave an all-encompassing reply: “Every intoxicant is wine, and all wine is forbidden.” Narrated by Muslim.) p. 71
Authentic. It is composed of two hadiths. The first is from Abū Mūsā al-Ashʿarī (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:
“The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent Muʿādh and me to Yemen and said: ‘Invite the people and give them glad tidings,
