Ibn Jurayj had another chain for it. He said: Abū al-Zubayr informed me that he heard Jābir ibn Abd Allah say: “Ibn Rawāhah assessed its yield at forty thousand wasqs. He stated that when Ibn Rawāhah gave the Jews the choice, they took the dates and owed twenty thousand wasqs.” It was narrated by Abū Dāwūd (3415) and Ahmad (3/296), and its chain is sound according to Muslim’s criteria.
Ibrāhīm ibn Tahmān corroborated him, narrating it from Abū al-Zubayr in a fuller version. Its wording is: “When Allah, Mighty and Majestic, granted Khaybar to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) allowed them to remain as they were and divided its produce between himself and them. He sent Abd Allah ibn Rawāhah, who assessed its yield for them and then said: ‘O assembly of Jews! You are the people I detest most. You killed Allah’s prophets, Mighty and Majestic, and uttered lies against Allah. Yet my hatred for you will not lead me to act unjustly toward you. I have assessed twenty thousand wasqs of dates. If you wish, it is yours; if you refuse, it is mine.’ They replied, ‘It is upon such justice that the heavens and earth are upheld. We accept, so leave us.’” It was narrated by Ahmad (3/367), and by Abū Dāwūd (3414) up to the words, “who assessed its yield for them.” Both chains are sound.
It is also supported by an abbreviated hadith of Ibn Umar, containing the words: “They said, ‘This is justice; it is upon this that the heavens and earth are upheld.’” It was narrated by Ahmad (2/24) with a chain that is acceptable as supporting evidence.

Sound. It was narrated by Abū Dāwūd (2943), as well as al-Hākim (1/406), through Abū Āsim, who said: Abd al-Wārith ibn Saīd narrated to us, from Husayn al-Muallim, from Abd Allah ibn Buraydah, from his father, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Al-Hākim said: “It is sound according to the criteria of al-Bukhārī and Muslim.” Al-Dhahabī concurred, and it is indeed as he said.
