“Ibn al-Zubayr” instead of “al-Zubayr ibn al-Awwām”!
However, it has a corroborating report from Abū Hurayra, with similar wording, traced back to the Prophet.
Al-Bukhārī narrated it in al-Adab al-Mufrad (no. 260) with a weak chain.
415 — (The hadith states: “Allah does not look at your appearances or your wealth, but He looks at your hearts and your deeds.”) Muslim (p. 304).
Authentic. Muslim (11/8), Ibn Mājah (4143), and Ahmad (2/285, 539) narrated it from Abū Hurayra, who said: The Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—said it. One version narrated by Muslim reads: “…at your bodies or your appearances.…”
416 — (It has been narrated that Abd Allah ibn Masūd’s shin became exposed, and it was thin and lean. Some of those present laughed at it. The Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—said: “Are you laughing at the thinness of his legs? By Him in whose hand is my soul, it is weightier in the Scale than Mount Uhud.”) p. 304.
Sound. Al-Tayālisī (355) and Ahmad (420–421) narrated from Hammād, from Āsim, from Zirr ibn Hubaysh, from Ibn Masūd, that he was gathering a tooth-stick from an arāk tree. He had thin legs, and the wind began making him sway, so the people laughed at him. The Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—asked: “What are you laughing at?” They replied: “At the thinness of his legs.” He then said: “By Him.…”
I say: This is a sound chain. Al-Haythamī said in Majma al-Zawāid (9/289): “Ahmad, Abū Yalā, al-Bazzār, and al-Tabarānī narrated it through several routes. The best of them contains Āsim ibn Abī al-Najūd, whose hadith are fair despite his weakness; the remaining narrators in the chains of Ahmad and Abū Yalā are narrators of the Sahih.”
