“Truthful, but he conceals intermediaries.”
It is well known that when a narrator known to conceal intermediaries transmits using the formula “from,” his hadith cannot be cited as proof. He narrated it in this form in the works of Ahmad and al-Bukhārī, and it was only there that al-Hāfiz cited it. Its transmission routes back to him in other works were also traced, but none contains an explicit statement that he heard it directly. They are found in Abd ibn Humayd’s al-Muntakhab min al-Musnad, Abū Ishāq al-Harbī’s Gharīb al-Hadīth, al-Tabarānī’s al-Kabīr, and al-Kalābādhī’s Miftāh al-Ma'ānī. There is no scope to cite them here at present.
9 - (The Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—mentioned) that, in a report narrated from his Lord, Blessed and Exalted, He said:
“I created My servants inclined to pure monotheism. Then the devils came to them and led them away from their religion, declared unlawful to them what I had made lawful for them, and commanded them to ascribe partners to Me for which I had sent down no authority.” Muslim ( ) narrated it. p. 26
Authentic. Muslim (159/8) and Ahmad (162/4) both narrated it on the authority of Iyād ibn Himār al-Mujāshi'ī—may Allah be pleased with him:
“The Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—said one day during his sermon . . .” He then related the hadith, which includes this passage.
10 - (A hadith of the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace): He said, “Avoid the three curse-provoking acts (that is, acts which bring down upon their perpetrator the curse of Allah and of people): defecating at water sources, on the thoroughfare, and in the shade.”
It was narrated by Abū Dāwūd, Ibn Mājah, al-Hākim, and al-Bayhaqī, and was graded authentic (p. 30).
Good owing to its corroborating reports. They have been fully referenced in our book, “Irwā al-Ghalīl fī Takhrīj
