323 — (The hadith stating that prices rose during his time (peace and blessings be upon him), so they said, “O Messenger of Allah, set prices for us.” He replied, “Indeed, Allah is the One who determines prices, withholds, gives abundantly, and provides sustenance. I certainly hope to meet Allah with none of you seeking redress from me for any wrong involving blood or property.” Narrated by Ahmad, Abū Dāwūd, al-Tirmidhī, Ibn Mājah, al-Dārimī, Abū Yaʿlā.) p. 245
Authentic. It was narrated by Abū Dāwūd (3451), al-Tirmidhī (247/1), al-Dārimī (249/2), Ibn Mājah (2200), al-Bayhaqī (29/6), Ahmad (156/3, 286), al-Tabarānī in al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr (1/38/1), and al-Diyā al-Maqdisī in al-Ahādīth al-Mukhtāra (2/26/2), through Hammād ibn Salama, from Qatāda, Thābit, and Humayd, from Anas, who then related the hadith. Al-Tirmidhī said, “A fair and authentic hadith.” I say: Its chain of transmission is authentic and meets Muslim’s criteria, as the hadith master stated in al-Talkhīs (14/3). He said, “Ibn Hibbān also graded it authentic.” I say: I did not find it in al-Haythamī’s Mawārid al-Zamʾān. Allah knows best. The hadith also has corroborating reports, some of which have fair chains of transmission; these may be found in al-Talkhīs and in my book al-Rawd al-Nadīr (405).
324 — (The hadith: “Whoever hoards food for forty nights has nothing to do with Allah, and Allah has nothing to do with him.” Narrated by Ahmad, al-Hākim, Ibn Abī Shayba, and al-Bazzār.) p. 246
Weak. It was narrated by Ahmad (33/2), al-Hākim (11/2), Ibn Abī Hātim in al-ʿIlal (392/1), and Abū Nuʿaym in al-Hilya (101/6), all through Yazīd ibn Hārūn: Asbagh ibn Zayd informed us: Abū Bishr narrated to us, from Abū al-Zāhiriya, from Kathīr ibn Murra al-Hadramī, from Ibn Umar, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Al-Hākim passed over it without comment, while al-Dhahabī said, “They abandoned Amr, and Asbagh has some weakness.” I say: Amr is Ibn al-Husayn al-Uqaylī. However, Yazīd ibn Hārūn corroborated him in the versions narrated by the group, and Yazīd is trustworthy; thus Amr cannot be held responsible. Ibn Abī Hātim reported that his father said, “This is a rejected hadith, and I do not know Abū Bishr.” Ibn Hazm said in
