who said: “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘Your Lord is one, and your father is one. An Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab, nor a red person over a black person, except through fear of Allah.’” Al-Tabarānī narrated it in al-Awsat, and al-Bazzār narrated something similar, except that his version reads: “Your father is one, and your religion is one. Your father is Adam, and Adam was created from dust.” Al-Haythamī said (8/84): “The transmitters in al-Bazzār’s chain are transmitters of the Sahīh.” It also has another corroborating report in the Musnad of Imam Ahmad (5/411), with an authentic chain and similar wording. I shall cite its wording under hadith (310).
309 — (He (peace and blessings be upon him) also said: “All of you are children of Adam, and Adam was created from dust.” Al-Bazzār) p. 239.
Sound. Al-Haythamī said (8/86): “Al-Bazzār narrated it from Hudhayfa. Its chain includes al-Hasan ibn al-Husayn al-ʿUranī, who is weak.”
I say: It is supported, however, by the hadith of Abū Saʿīd cited just above and the forthcoming hadith of Abū Hurayra (312).
310 — (The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “These lineages of yours are no grounds for casting reproach upon any of you. All of you are children of Adam . . . No one has any superiority over another except through religious commitment and fear of Allah . . .” Ahmad) p. 239.
Ahmad narrated it (4/158) through Ibn Lahīʿa, from al-Hārith ibn Yazīd, from ʿAlī ibn Rabāh, from ʿUqba ibn ʿĀmir al-Juhanī, who said: “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said”—and he related the hadith.
I say: This chain is weak because of Ibn Lahīʿa. Al-Haythamī said in al-Majmaʿ (8/84): “It was narrated by Ahmad and al-Tabarānī. Its chain includes Ibn Lahīʿa, in whom there is some weakness, while the remaining transmitters have been declared trustworthy.”
311 — (All people are descended from Adam and Eve . . . Allah will not ask you about your family distinction or lineage on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Ibn Jarīr) p. 239.
Authentic. It is documented in al-Ahādīth al-Sahīha (1038).
