Safwān ibn Assāl also reported, in a narration traced back to the Prophet, something similar to the hadith of Usāma ibn Sharīk, but without the additional wording. Al-Hākim recorded it (4/197) and said, “Its chain is authentic.” Al-Dhahabī concurred with him!
A man from the Helpers reported:
“The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) visited a man who had a wound. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, ‘Summon the physician of such-and-such clan for him.’ They summoned him, and he came. They asked, ‘Messenger of Allah, can medicine be of any benefit?’ He replied, ‘Glory be to Allah! Has Allah sent down any disease on earth without providing a cure for it?’”
Ahmad recorded it (5/371) with an authentic chain; its narrators are trustworthy and are among Muslim’s narrators. Al-Haythamī said (5/84), “Ahmad narrated it, and its narrators are narrators of the Sahīh.”
293 – (He said, “If there is any good in your remedies, it lies in these three: a drink of honey, an incision for cupping, or cauterization with fire.” Agreed upon.)
p. 233
Authentic. Al-Bukhārī (4/51, 54), Muslim (7/21–22), and Ahmad (3/343) recorded it from the hadith of Jābir ibn Abd Allāh, traced back to the Prophet with this wording.
294 – (Uqba ibn Āmir reported that he came with a group of ten riders to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He accepted the pledge of allegiance from nine of them but withheld it from one man. They asked, “What is the matter with him?” He replied, “There is an amulet on his upper arm.” The man cut off the amulet, whereupon the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) accepted his pledge and then said, “Whoever wears one has committed shirk.” Recorded by Ahmad and al-Hākim—whose wording this is—and Ahmad’s narrators are trustworthy.) p. 233
Authentic. It is fully referenced in Silsilat al-Ahādīth al-Sahīha (Series of Authentic Hadiths), no. 492.
295 – (Another hadith states: “Whoever wears an amulet, may Allah never bring his affairs to completion; and whoever wears a cowrie shell, may Allah grant him no peace.” Recorded by Ahmad and Abū Yalā with a good chain, and by al-Hākim, who declared it authentic.) p. 233
