(5150), al-Tirmidhī (1/349), and Ahmad as well (5/333), from Sahl ibn Sa'd al-Sā'idī, in a report traced back to the Prophet. Al-Bukhārī adds “somewhat,” while Ahmad’s wording is “slightly.”
It has corroboration in a similar report from Abū Hurayra, traced back to the Prophet, narrated by Muslim (8/221) and Ahmad (2/375) through Mālik, from Thawr ibn Zayd al-Dīlī, who said: I heard Abū al-Ghayth narrate it from Abū Hurayra. Its wording is: “The one who cares for an orphan—whether related to him or not—and I will be like these two in Paradise, provided that he fears Allah.” Mālik gestured with his index and middle fingers. The phrase “provided that he fears Allah” is not found in Muslim, though it appears in al-Muwatta (2/948/5) through Safwān ibn Sulaym as a disconnected report traced back to the Prophet.
266—(Alī, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated this from atop the pulpit, from a document in his possession, on the authority of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). It stated: “Whoever claims descent from anyone other than his father or affiliates himself with patrons other than his own incurs the curse of Allah, the angels, and all mankind. On the Day of Resurrection, Allah will accept from him neither sarf nor adl [that is, neither repentance nor ransom].” Agreed upon.)
p. 220
Authentic. It was narrated by al-Bukhārī (1/467), Muslim (4/217), and Ahmad as well (1/126). Abū Dāwūd (5115) also narrated the first part from Anas ibn Mālik, with the wording:
“Upon him is Allah’s unremitting curse until the Day of Resurrection.”
Its chain of transmission is authentic.
267—(Sa'd ibn Abī Waqqās reported that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Whoever claims someone other than his father as his father, knowing that he is not his father, Paradise is forbidden to him.” Agreed upon.) p. 220
Authentic. It was narrated by al-Bukhārī (4/290), Muslim (1/57), al-Dārimī as well (2/343), Ibn Mājah (2610), and Ahmad (1/169), through Abū Uthmān, from Sa'd, reporting the same. (He said): I mentioned it to Abū Bakra, who replied: “My own ears heard it, and my heart retained it, from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).”
