Authentic. Muslim (1/183), Abū Dāwūd (4018), al-Tirmidhī (2/130), and Ibn Mājah (661) transmitted it, though Ibn Mājah omits the clause concerning direct bodily contact. Ahmad (3/63) also transmitted it from Abū Sa'īd al-Khudrī, traced back to the Prophet. Al-Tirmidhī said: “It is a sound, authentic hadith.”
186 – (The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, permitted Ā'ishah to watch the Abyssinians as they played with their spears in the Prophet’s Mosque. She continued watching them until she herself had had enough and left. Agreed upon.) p. 151
Authentic. It is documented in Wedding Etiquette (pp. 168–169), where the various wordings of the hadith from the other narrations are brought together.
187 – (Ā'ishah reported that Asmā' bint Abī Bakr—her sister—entered upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, wearing sheer clothing that revealed her body. The Prophet turned away from her and said: “O Asmā', once a woman reaches menstruating age, nothing of her should be seen except this and this,” and he pointed to his face and hands. Narrated by Abū Dāwūd.) p. 151
Sound. It is documented in The Woman’s Veil (p. 204). The conclusion reached there is that the portion of the report consisting of the words attributed to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, is sound, because it has a corroborating report from Asmā' bint Umays that strengthens it, and women acted in accordance with it during the lifetime of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Consult it there.
188 – (Jarīr ibn Abdullah said: “I asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, about a sudden glance, and he said: ‘Turn your gaze away’”—meaning: do not look a second time. Narrated by Ahmad, Muslim, Abū Dāwūd, and al-Tirmidhī.) p. 151
Authentic. It is documented in the preceding source (p. 35).
