Ghayat al-Maram fi Takhrij Ahadith al-Halal wa-l-HaramNasir al-Din al-Albani

for three dirhams?” He replied, “No, by Allah,” but then sold it. I mentioned this to the Messenger of Allah—Exalted and Majestic is He—and he said, “He sold his Hereafter for his worldly life.” Transmitted by Ibn Hibbān in his Sahīh.) p. 138

Good. Ibn Hibbān (1099—Mawārid) transmitted it by way of Yaqub ibn Humayd ibn Kāsib, who said: Ibn Abī Fudayk narrated to us, from Rabīa ibn Abdullah ibn al-Hudayr, from Abū Saīd, with this narration.

I say: This is a good chain of transmission. All its narrators are trustworthy, although there is some slight criticism of Yaqub ibn Humayd. Al-Hāfiz said in al-Taqrīb: “Truthful, though he sometimes erred.”

172 — (The hadith states: “A dirham of usury that a man knowingly consumes is more grievous than thirty-six acts of fornication.”

Transmitted by Ahmad, and its narrators are among those of the authentic collections. The narration has the wording “thirty-six acts of fornication” in this form, contrary to the more familiar grammatical construction of the numeral.) p. 139

Authentic. Ahmad (5/225), al-Dāraqutnī in his Sunan (p. 295), and Ibn Asākir in Tārīkh Dimashq (9/74/2) transmitted it by way of Jarīr ibn Hāzim, from Ayyūb, from Ibn Abī Mulayka, from Abdullah ibn Hanzala—son of the one washed by the angels—who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said—and he then related the hadith. I say: This is an authentic chain of transmission. Some have faulted it on grounds that do not impair its authenticity, as I have explained in Ahādīth al-Mawsūa al-Fiqhiyya.

173 — (Abū Hurayra, may Allah be pleased with him, reported that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Woe to the rulers! Woe to the chiefs (the leaders)! Woe to the trustees (the custodians of property)! On the Day of Resurrection, some people will wish that their bodies had been suspended from the Pleiades, dangling between heaven and earth, and that they had never assumed any office.” Transmitted by Ibn Hibbān in his Sahīh and by al-Hākim
