Weak. Al-Mundhirī said in al-Targhīb (3/30): “Al-Tabarānī transmitted it in al-Kabīr with a chain that is acceptable, Allah willing.” That is what he said, but it is refuted by al-Haythamī’s statement (4/73): “Al-Tabarānī transmitted it in al-Kabīr. Its chain contains Muhammad ibn Ishāq al-Ghanawī, for whom I could find no biographical entry; the remainder of its narrators are trustworthy.”
170 — (The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, mentioned: “There are three at whom Allah will not look on the Day of Resurrection, nor will He purify them, and they will have a painful punishment. Authentic. Muslim (1/71), Abū Dāwūd (4087), al-Nasāī (1/357), al-Tirmidhī (1/228), al-Dārimī (2/267), Ibn Mājah (2208), and Ahmad (5/148, 158, 162, 168, 177–178) transmitted it from Abū Dharr, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said:
“There are three to whom Allah will not speak on the Day of Resurrection, at whom He will not look, and whom He will not purify; and they will have a painful punishment.” The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, repeated it three times. Abū Dharr said, “They are ruined—or they have lost! Who are they, O Messenger of Allah?” He replied, “The one who lets his garment hang below his ankles, the one who reminds others of his favors, and the one who promotes his merchandise by swearing false oaths.” Al-Tirmidhī said: “This is a good and authentic hadith.”
