9 (good)
Jābir ibn ʿAbd Allāh, may Allah be pleased with him, said: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in prayer in the month of Ramadan for eight rak‘ahs and then performed the witr. On the following night we gathered in the mosque, hoping that he would come out to us, and we remained there until dawn. When morning came we entered and said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, we assembled in the mosque last night and hoped that you would lead us in prayer.’ He replied, ‘I feared that it might be made obligatory for you.’”
Reported by Ibn Naṣr and al-Ṭabarānī; its chain is good when considered alongside the previous account. Al-Ḥāfiẓ (Ibn Ḥajar) pointed to its strength in Fatḥ al-Bārī and Talkhīṣ al-Ḥabīr, and he also attributed it to Ibn Khuzaymah and Ibn Ḥibbān in their Ṣaḥīḥ collections. ⦗21⦘
