21 – Diligently observe the obligatory duties and the regular Sunnah rites, and shun all that Allah has forbidden.
This, then, is Sharḥ al-Sunnah. I have endeavoured to lay it bare and clarify its contents. Whoever Allah enables to act upon what I have set forth—granting him further help to discharge the obligatory acts while exercising caution regarding impurities, to perfect his purification before every act of worship, to perform the prayers as far as he is able, to pay the zakat to those who are genuinely entitled to it, to make the ḥajj when he possesses both the means and the physical ability, to fast the month (of Ramaḍān) when he enjoys good health, to establish the nightly witr prayer, and to perform the five additional prayers that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ instituted beyond the prescribed ones—such a person, by Allah’s grace, has truly succeeded.
