In the name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Very Merciful.
The jurist and imām Shams al-Dīn Abū al-ʿIzz Yūsuf b. ʿUmar b. Abī Naṣr al-Hakārī informed us in the month of Ṣafar, 616 AH, saying:
“The shaykh, imām, trustworthy ḥāfiẓ, and last remnant of the early generations, Abū Isḥāq Ibrāhīm b. ʿUthmān b. ʿĪsā b. Darbās al-Mārānī, narrated to us from his own dictation in Mosul on the nineteenth of Jumādā al-Ūlā, 611 AH, saying:
‘The righteous scholar, Shaykh Abū ʿAbdallāh Muḥammad b. Aḥmad b. Ḥamd b. Mufarrij b. Ghiyāth al-Artāḥī, related to us—this was read to him in Fusṭāṭ, Egypt—saying:
“The shaykh, musnid, and scholar, Abū al-Ḥasan ʿAlī b. al-Ḥusayn b. ʿUmar al-Mawṣilī al-Farrāʾ, narrated to us in the section for which he granted me permission…"’”
Shaykh Ibrāhīm b. ʿUthmān also said:
“The shaykh, imām, jurist, and ḥāfiẓ, Abū Ṭāhir Aḥmad b. Muḥammad b. Aḥmad b. Muḥammad b. Ibrāhīm b. Salafah al-Iṣbahānī, the Salafī, likewise informed us in his letter to us from Alexandria in Rabīʿ al-Ākhir, 574 AH.”
