58 – ʿAbd Allāh said, “Follow and do not innovate, for you have already been given all you need; every bidʿah is misguidance.
59 – He also said, “We take our example and do not invent; we follow and do not innovate. We shall never go astray so long as we cling to the athar (transmitted tradition).”
60 – May Allah have mercy on him, he further said, “Hold fast to knowledge before it is taken away, for it will be taken away when its people depart. You will meet people who claim to be calling to the Book of Allah while they have flung it behind their backs. Therefore, hold fast to knowledge. Beware of bidʿahs, beware of tanattuʿ (religious excess), beware of taʿammuq (needless over-subtlety). Adhere to what is ʿatīq (the time-honoured way).”
61 – He said as well, “What I fear for you more than the Dajjal is other things that will arise from your own leaders. So whoever—man or woman—lives to see that time, let him hold to the first demeanour, for today we are upon the sunnah.”
