- Listening and giving obedience are due to the imams and to the Commander of the Believers—whether he is righteous or sinful—as well as to anyone who attains the caliphate and around whom the people gather and to whom they give their consent, and even to whoever seizes power over them by the sword until he becomes caliph and is called the Commander of the Believers.
١٥ - والسمع وَالطَّاعَة للأئمة وأمير الْمُؤمنِينَ الْبر والفاجر وَمن ولي الْخلَافَة وَاجْتمعَ النَّاس عَلَيْهِ وَرَضوا بِهِ وَمن عَلَيْهِم بِالسَّيْفِ حَتَّى صَار خَليفَة وَسمي أَمِير الْمُؤمنِينَ
