and Majestic—“When his Lord manifested Himself, He reduced it to dust.”

Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, pointed with his fingertip to the first segment of his little finger. Thābit al-Bunānī made the same gesture. Humayd al-Tawīl said to him, “What do you mean by this, Abū Muhammad?” Thābit raised his hand and struck his chest a heavy blow, saying, “Who are you, Humayd, and what do you amount to, Humayd? Anas ibn Mālik narrates to me from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, yet you say, ‘What do you mean by this?’”
