al-Qurashī, a Basran known as the client of Bāhila, from Abū Umāma, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:

“No people go astray after having followed guidance except that they are given to disputation.”

Then the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, recited this verse:

“They only put this to you for the sake of argument. Rather, they are a contentious people.”

Abū ʿĪsā said: “This is an authentic hadith—authentic.”

40 - Abū Hātim Ahmad ibn al-Hasan al-Bazzār, the Sunni jurist, informed us in Rayy, saying: I heard Imam al-Husayn ibn ʿAlī ibn Jaʿfar al-Asbahānī
