- (30) Chapter: The Running of Allah, Mighty and Majestic
30 - Muhammad ibn Mūsā al-Sayrafī informed us: al-Asamm narrated to us: Hārūn ibn Sulaymān narrated to us: ʿAbd al-Rahmān ibn Mahdī narrated to us, from Shuʿbah, from al-Aʿmash, from Abū Sālih, from Abū Hurayrah—may Allah be pleased with him—from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, who said:
“(Allah, Mighty and Majestic, said:) ‘I am as My servant thinks of Me, and I am with him when he calls upon Me. If he draws near to Me a handspan, I draw near to him a cubit. If he draws near to Me a cubit, I draw near to him an armspan. If he comes to Me walking, I come to him running.’”
- (٣٠) بَابُ الْهَرْوَلَةِ لِلَّهِ ﷿
٣٠ - أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُوسَى الصَّيْرفِيُّ ثَنَا الْأَصَم ثَنَا هَارُون ابْن سُلَيْمَانَ ثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ﵁ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ (قَالَ الله) ﷿ أَنَا عِنْدَ ظَنِّ عَبْدِي بِي وَأَنَا مَعَهُ إِذَا دَعَاني أَن تَقَرَّبَ مِنِّي شِبْرًا تَقَرَّبْتُ مِنْهُ ذِرَاعًا وَإِنْ تَقَرَّبَ مِنِّي ذِرَاعًا تَقَرَّبْتُ إِلَيْهِ بَاعًا وَإِنْ جَاءَنِي يمشي أَتَيْته هَرْوَلَةً
