—rather, He punishes them for those misdeeds in the Fire and will take them out of it because of their faith.

Abu Ḥanīfah—may Allah have mercy on him—said: “Whoever believes in everything that a Muslim is required to believe, yet says, ‘I do not know whether Moses and Jesus were sent as Messengers or not,’ is a disbeliever. And whoever says, ‘I do not know whether the disbeliever will be in Paradise or in the Fire,’ is likewise a disbeliever, for the Exalted One says: ‘But those who disbelieve—the Fire of Hell awaits them; it will not be allowed to finish them so that they die’ (Q 35:36), and He says: ‘and for them is a blazing punishment’ (Q 3:91), and He says: ‘and for them is a severe punishment’ (Q 2:7).”
