In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
All praise belongs to Allah, Lord of the worlds. May blessings and peace be upon our master Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.
Imam Abu Bakr ibn Muhammad al-Kasani narrated from Abu Bakr ʿAlāʾ al-Dīn Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Samarqandi, who said: Abu al-Muʿīn Maymun ibn Muhammad ibn Makḥūl al-Nasafi informed us; he said: Abu ʿAbd Allah al-Ḥusayn ibn ʿAli al-Kashghari, known as al-Faḍl, informed us; he said: Abu Mālik Naṣrān ibn Naṣr al-Khutlī transmitted from ʿAli ibn al-Ḥasan ibn Muhammad al-Ghazzāl, from Abu al-Ḥasan ʿAli ibn Ahmad al-Fārisi. Naṣīr ibn Yaḥyā the jurist reported: I heard Abu Muṭīʿ al-Ḥakam ibn ʿAbd Allah al-Balkhī say:
Among the principles of Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jamāʿah:
“I asked Abu Ḥanīfah al-Nuʿmān ibn Thābit—may Allah be pleased with him and with them—about al-Fiqh al-Akbar. He replied: ‘Do not declare anyone of the People of the Qiblah to be an unbeliever on account of a sin, and do not expel anyone from faith.’”
