The Torment of the Grave
It is impermissible to assert that Satan forcibly and coercively wrests faith from a believing servant. Rather, we say that the servant himself relinquishes faith, and only then does Satan take it from him.
The questioning by Munkar and Nakir in the grave is a firmly established reality, as is the return of the soul to the body within its grave. Likewise, the grave’s constriction and its torment are true: they will visit every disbeliever and may also befall some sinning believers.
Whatever the scholars have expressed in Persian concerning the attributes of Allah—majestic is His Name—is permissible to utter, except for rendering the word “hand” into Persian. It is also permissible to say “ba-rūy-e Khud,” meaning “Exalted is He,” provided this is affirmed without tashbīh (likening Him to the creation) and without kayfiyyah (inquiring into how).
