Al-Fiqh al-AkbarAbu Hanifa

Paradise and Hellfire shall never perish.

The settling of disputes between adversaries by transferring good deeds on the Day of Resurrection is an established reality; and if a person possesses no good deeds, the sins of the wronged will be placed upon him—this, too, is a true and valid matter. Paradise and Hellfire are created entities that will never cease, and neither Allah’s punishment nor His reward will ever come to an end—they are everlasting.

Allah, exalted is He, guides whom He wills as a grace from Him, and He leads astray whom He wills as an act of justice. His leading astray is His khidhlān (withholding of aid), and khidhlān means that the servant is not granted success to do what pleases Him. This is pure justice on His part, as is the punishment He inflicts upon the one thus abandoned for his sin.
