Al-Fiqh al-AkbarAbu Hanifa

—even if he had been an unabashed sinner—so long as he departs this life as a believer. Nor do we declare, as the Murjiʿah do, that our good deeds are certainly accepted and our misdeeds unquestionably forgiven. Rather, we hold that whoever performs a righteous act while fulfilling all its prerequisites, free of the flaws that invalidate it, and does not nullify it through kufr, ridda (apostasy), or vile conduct until he leaves this world in a state of faith, Allah—exalted is He—will never let that deed be lost; instead, He accepts it from the doer and rewards him for it.
