36 – Muhammad ibn Yahyā ibn Abī Hātim narrated to me: Yahyā ibn Hurayth al-Abdī informed us, from Yūsuf ibn Atiyya, from Muhammad ibn Wāsi, who said:
“I lived to see men among whom a man would rest his head beside his wife’s on the same pillow, while his tears soaked the place beneath his cheek, yet his wife remained unaware. By Allah, I lived to see men among whom one would stand in the prayer row with tears streaming down his cheek, yet the person beside him remained unaware.”
37 – Ubayd Allah ibn Umar al-Jushamī narrated to us: Jafar narrated to us, from Abū al-Tayyāh, who said:
“A man would devote himself to worship for twenty years without his neighbor knowing.”
[36] Muhammad ibn Yahyā ibn Abī Hātim—his grandfather’s name was Abd al-Karīm ibn Nāfi al-Azdī al-Basrī—settled in Baghdad. He was trustworthy and died in 252 AH. *Taqrīb al-Tahdhīb*, p. 513.
I found no biographical entry for Yahyā ibn Harīth al-Abdī.
Yūsuf ibn Atiyya ibn Thābit al-Saffār al-Basrī, Abū Sahl, was deemed abandoned by hadith critics and belonged to the eighth generation. *Tahdhīb al-Tahdhīb*, 11/418; *Taqrīb al-Tahdhīb*, p. 611.
[37] Ubayd Allah ibn Umar ibn Maysara al-Jushamī al-Qawārīrī, Abū Saīd al-Basrī, settled in Baghdad. He was trustworthy and firmly established, and died in 235 AH. *Tahdhīb al-Tahdhīb*, 7/240; *Taqrīb al-Tahdhīb*, p. 373.
Jafar was Ibn Sulaymān al-Dubaī. He was generally reliable and an ascetic, though he had Shii leanings. *Tahdhīb al-Kamāl*, 5/43; *Taqrīb al-Tahdhīb*, p. 140.
Abū al-Tayyāh was Yazīd ibn Humayd al-Dubaī al-Basrī. He was trustworthy and firmly established, and died in 128 AH. *Tahdhīb al-Tahdhīb*, 11/330; *Taqrīb al-Tahdhīb*, p. 600.
٣٦ - حدثني محمدُ بنُ يحيى بنِ أبي حاتم ، أخبرنا يحيى بنُ حريث العبدي ، عن
يوسُفَ بنِ عطيّةَ :
عن محمد بن واسع قال :
لقد أدركتُ رجالاً كان الرجلُ يكونُ رأسه ورأسُ امرأته على وسادٍ
واحد ، قد بَلَّ ما تحتَ خدِّهِ مِن دُمُوعِهِ لا تشعُرُ به امرأتُه . والله لقد أدركتُ
رجالاً كان أحدُهم يقومُ في الصَّفِّ ، فَتَسِيلُ دُمُوعُهُ على خَدِّهِ ، لا يشعُرُ
الذي إلى جَنْبِهِ .
٣٧ - حدثنا عُبيدُ اللهِ بنُ عمر الجشمي ، حدثنا جعفر :
عن أبي التَّيَّاحِ قالَ :
إن كان الرجلُ يتعبَّدُ عشرين سنةً ، وما يعلمُ به جارُه .

يحيى بن حريث العبدي ، لم أجد له ترجمة .
يوسُف بن عطيّة بن ثابت الصفّار البصري ، أبو سهل ، متروك ، من
الثامنة ؛ « تهذيب التهذيب » ٤١٨/١١ ، و « تقريب التهذيب » : ٦١١ .

بغداد ، ثقة ثبت ، مات سنة ٢٣٥ ؛ « تهذيب التهذيب » ٢٤٠/٧ ،
و « تقريب التهذيب » : ٣٧٣ .
جعفر ، هو ابن سليمان الضُّبعي ، صدوق زاهد ، لكنه كان يتشيّع ؛
« تهذيب الكمال » ٤٣/٥ ، و « تقريب التهذيب » : ١٤٠ .
أبو التَّيَّاح ، هو يزيد بن حُميد الضُّبعي ، البصريّ ، ثقة ثبت ، مات سنة
١٢٨ ؛ « تهذيب التهذيب » ٣٣٠/١١ ، و « تقريب التهذيب » : ٦٠٠ .
