33 – Abd al-Rahmān ibn Sālih narrated to me: Abīda ibn Humayd narrated to us, from Mansūr, from Hilāl ibn Yasāf, who said:
I was informed that Jesus, son of Mary, used to say, “When one of you is fasting, let him oil his beard and wipe his lips so that people will think he is not fasting. When he gives something with his right hand, let him conceal it from his left. When he prays in his home, let him draw his curtain around him, for Allah apportions praise just as He apportions provision.”
[33] Ubayda ibn Humayd ibn Suhayb, Abū Abd al-Rahmān al-Taymī—also said to have been al-Dabbī or al-Laythī—was known as al-Hadhdhā. Originally from Kufa, he settled in Baghdad and remained there until his death. Ahmad ibn Hanbal praised him very highly. Muhammad ibn Sad said: “He was trustworthy, transmitted sound hadith, and was knowledgeable in grammar, Arabic, and Quran recitation.” He died after 190 AH. *Tārīkh Baghdād*, 11/120–123.
Mansūr was Mansūr ibn al-Mutamir ibn Abd Allāh al-Sulamī, Abū Uththāb al-Kufī. He was trustworthy and precise and died in 132 AH. *Taqrīb al-Tahdhīb*, p. 547.
Hilāl ibn Yasāf al-Ashjaī, their client, was a Kufan who narrated from al-Hasan ibn Alī, Abū al-Dardā, Āisha, and other Companions. *Tahdhīb al-Tahdhīb*, 11/86; *Taqrīb al-Tahdhīb*, p. 576.
٣٣ - حدثني عبد الرحمن بنُ صالح قال : حدثنا عبيدة بن حميد ، عن منصور :
عن هلال بنِ يَسَاف قال :
حُدِّثْتُ أنَّ عيسى بنَ مريم كان يقول : إذا كان يومُ صومِ أحَدِكم
فَلْيَدْهُنْ لِحْيَتَهُ بِدُهْنٍ ، ويَمْسَحْ شَفَتَيْهِ حتّى يَرىَ الناسُ أنّه ليسَ بصائمٍ ،
وإذا أعطى شيئاً بيمينِهِ فَلْيُخْفِهِ مِن شمالِهِ ، وإذا صَلَّى في بيتِهِ فَلْيُلْقِ عليه
سُتْرَهُ ، فإنَّ الله يَقْسِمُ الثَّناءَ كما يَقْسِمُ الرِّزْق .
[ ٣٣ ] - عبيدة بن حميد بن صهيب ، أبو عبد الرحمن التيمي ، وقيل : الضبي ، والليثي ، ويعرف بالحذاء ، كان كوفياً فسكن بغداد إلى أن توفي بها . أثنى عليه أحمد بن حنبل ورفع أمره جداً . قال محمد بن سعد : كان ثقة صالح الحديث صاحب نحو وعربية وقراءة للقرآن ، مات بعد ١٩٠ ؛ « تاريخ بغداد » ١١ / ١٢٠ - ١٢٣ .
منصور ، هو ابنُ المعتمر بن عبد الله السَّلمي ، أبو عثَّاب الكوفي ، ثقة ثبت ، مات سنة ١٣٢ ؛ « تقريب التهذيب » : ٥٤٧ .
هلال بن يساف ، الأشجعي مولاهم ، الكوفي ، روى عن الحسن بن علي وأبي الدرداء وعائشة وغيرهم من الصحابة ؛ « تهذيب التهذيب » ١١ / ٨٦ ، و « التقريب » : ٥٧٦ .
