[23] al-Qāsim ibn Hāshim al-Samsār narrated from his father and al-Sabbāh ibn Abd Allah al-Ramlī. His son and Wakī al-Qādī narrated from him. He was truthful; *Tārīkh Baghdād*, 12/430. Al-Hasan ibn Qutayba al-Khuzāī was a shaykh from al-Madāin who settled in Baghdad. Ibn Hibbān said, “He makes errors and contradicts reliable narrators,” while Abu al-Fath al-Azdī declared him abandoned; Ibn Hibbān, *al-Thiqāt*, 8/168; *al-Mughnī*, no. 1467. Muhammad ibn Ishāq ibn Yasār, Abu Bakr al-Muttalibī by clientage, was a Medinan who settled in Iraq. A leading authority on the military campaigns and author of the *Sīra*, he was truthful but practiced *tadlīs* (concealment in transmission) and was accused of Shiism and Qadarism. He died in 150 AH, or reportedly sometime thereafter; *Taqrīb al-Tahdhīb*, p. 467. Muhammad ibn Alī ibn al-Husayn ibn Alī ibn Abī Tālib, Abu Jafar al-Bāqir, was reliable and virtuous. He died in the 110s AH; *Taqrīb al-Tahdhīb*, p. 497.
