[20] Rushdayn ibn Sad ibn Muflih al-Mahrī was weak. He died in 188 AH at the age of seventy-eight. See *Taqrīb al-Tahdhīb*, p. 209. Abd Allāh is Ibn al-Mubārak, previously mentioned in report (7). Ubayd ibn Amr may be the Basran whose biography appears in *Lisān al-Mīzān*, 4/141. Fadāla ibn Ubayd al-Ansārī was a Companion who participated in the Battle of Uhud and subsequent campaigns. Muāwiya appointed him to command military expeditions and serve as judge of Damascus, and made him his deputy over the city during his absence. He died in 58 AH, though other dates are also reported. See *Tahdhīb al-Tahdhīb*, 9/267. (1) The particle *qad* does not occur in *Zawāʾid al-Zuhd wa-l-Raqāʾiq* or *al-Durr al-Manthūr*. The latter reads *yaqbal* instead of *taqbal*. (2) *Zawāʾid al-Zuhd wa-l-Raqāʾiq* reads, “because Allah—blessed and exalted is He—,” while *al-Durr al-Manthūr* reads *fa-inna* (“for indeed”) instead of *li-anna* (“because”). (3) It was narrated by Abd Allāh ibn al-Mubārak, as recorded in Nuaym ibn Hammād’s *Zawāʾid al-Zuhd wa-l-Raqāʾiq* (78). Al-Suyūtī attributed it to Ibn Abī al-Dunyā in *al-Durr al-Manthūr*, 1/274.
