17 — Yaqub ibn Ismāīl narrated to me. He said: Hibbān ibn Mūsā narrated to us. Abdullah informed us. Al-Awzāī informed us:
Yahyā ibn Abī Kathīr said:
The angel ascends with a servant’s deed, rejoicing (1). When he reaches his Lord, He says, “Place it in Sijjīn (2), for I was not the One intended by this deed (3).”
[17] Yaqub ibn Ismāīl ibn Hammād, Abū Yūsuf al-Qādī al-Basrī. Abū Hātim described him as reliable. *Tārīkh Baghdād*, vol. 14, p. 276.
Abd Allāh is Ibn al-Mubārak, previously mentioned in report (7).
Al-Awzāī was Abd al-Rahmān ibn Amr, the renowned imam.
Yahyā ibn Abī Kathīr al-Tāī, their client, Abū Nasr al-Yamāmī, was trustworthy and precise, though he practiced *tadlīs* and narrated *mursal* reports. He died in 132 AH, or, according to another view, earlier. *Taqrīb al-Tahdhīb*, p. 596.
(1) The additions to *al-Zuhd wa-al-Raqāiq* read: “delighted with it.”
(2) *Sijjīn* is the register containing the deeds of the wicked among humankind and the jinn.
(3) Narrated by Abd Allāh ibn al-Mubārak, as cited in Nuaym ibn Hammād’s additions to *al-Zuhd wa-al-Raqāiq*, no. 71.
١٧ - حدثني يعقوبُ بنُ إسماعيل قال : حدثنا حِبّانُ بنُ مُوسَى ، أخبرنا عبد الله ،
أخبرنا الأوزاعي :
عن يَحْيَى بن أبي كثير قال :
يصعدُ المَلَكُ بعمل العبدِ مُبتهجاً (١) ، فإذا انتهى إلى ربِّه قال : اجعلوه
في سِجّين (٢) ، فإنّي لم أُرِدْ بهذا (٣) .
[ ١٧ ] - يعقوب بن إسماعيل بن حماد ، أبو يوسف القاضي البصري ، قال أبو حاتم :
صدوق ؛ « تاريخ بغداد » ١٤ / ٢٧٦ .
عبد الله ، هو ابن المبارك ، سبق ذكره في الأثر (٧) .
الأوزاعي ، هو عبد الرحمن بن عمرو ، الإمام المشهور .
يحيى بن أبي كثير ، الطائي مولاهم ، أبو نصر اليمامي ، ثقة ثبت لكنه يدلس
ويرسل ، مات سنة ١٣٢ وقيل قبل ذلك . « التقريب » : ٥٩٦ .
