[13] Abd al-Malik ibn Ibrāhīm, possibly al-Juddī al-Makkī, was truthful. He died in 204 or 205 AH. *Taqrīb al-Tahdhīb*, p. 362. Saīd ibn Āmir al-Dubaī, Abū Muhammad al-Basrī, was trustworthy and righteous. He died in 208 AH. *Tahdhīb al-Kamāl*, vol. 10, p. 510; *Taqrīb al-Tahdhīb*, p. 237. Hazm ibn Abī Hazm, whose name was Mihrān—also said to have been Abd Allah al-Qutaī—has an entry in *Tahdhīb al-Kamāl*, vol. 5, p. 588. Āmir ibn Abd Allah ibn Qays was one of Basra’s devoted worshippers and ascetics. Al-Samānī said: “The numerous reports of his righteousness make it unnecessary to recount them.” He was one of the Eight Ascetics. These Eight Ascetics may be those intended by Ibn Abī Hātim in his treatise *The Eight Ascetics among the Successors*: the subject of this entry, Uways al-Qaranī, al-Rabī ibn Khuthaym, Abū Muslim al-Khawlānī, al-Aswad ibn Yazīd, Masrūq ibn al-Ajda, al-Hasan al-Basrī, and Haram ibn Hayyān—may Allah be pleased with them all.
