Al-Ikhlas wa-l-Niyya - Ibn Abi al-Dunya - (1/11)

Professor Yāsīn Muhammad al-Sawwās likewise compiled the titles of Ibn Abī al-Dunyā’s works in his introduction to the critical edition of al-Shukr li-Allah Azza wa Jall (Gratitude to Allah, Mighty and Majestic), bringing their number to 202.

Both scholars took care to document each work, citing the sources that attest to it and indicating where its manuscripts are held throughout the world, when extant.

The following table lists the subjects of Ibn Abī al-Dunyā’s works and the number of books he authored on each subject(1):

Among his works on asceticism and heart-softening exhortations—the category to which the present book belongs—are:

(1) I compiled this table from the works of Ibn Abī al-Dunyā listed by Professor Najm Abd al-Rahmān Khalaf in the introduction to his critical edition of Kitāb al-Samt wa Ādāb al-Lisān (Silence and the Etiquette of Speech), as it is the most comprehensive list of works attributed to the subject of this biography.

وجمع الأستاذ ياسين محمد السواس أسماء مصنّفاته في مقدمة تحقيق كتاب « الشكر لله عزّ وجلّ » له أيضاً فبلغت ٢٠٢ كتاباً . وقد اعتنى الأستاذان بتوثيق كلّ كتاب ؛ فذكروا مصادر توثيقه ، وأشاروا إلى مواضع وجود مخطوطات كلّ كتاب في العالم إن كان موجوداً . وفيما يلي جدول بموضوعات كتب ابن أبي الدنيا ، وعدد الكتب المصنّفة بها(١) : الموضوع عدد الكتب ١ - القراءات ٤ ٢ - الحديث ٢ ٣ - التوحيد ١١ ٤ - الفقه ١٠ ٥ - الزهد والرقائق ١٠٢ ٦ - التاريخ والتراجم ٣٧ ٧ - الآداب والفضائل ١٧ ٨ - الأدب والمُلَح ٧ ٩ - المنوعات ٢٧ مجموع كتب ابن أبي الدنيا ٢١٧ ومن كتبه في موضوع الزهد والرقائق حيث كتابنا من مواضيعه :
