12 – When a word is vocalized in some manuscripts but left without vocalization in the others, and there is no disagreement among the vocalized copies, I reproduce that vocalization in the main text without noting the manuscripts that omit it. If the vocalized manuscripts disagree, I record their respective readings and omit mention of the unvocalized copies.
13 – In describing divergent vocalizations I have taken care to distinguish the sign that reflects a word’s fixed morphological form from the signs that indicate grammatical inflection.
14 – I have issued the book in two versions:
a. The first version: an annotated edition that contains the critical apparatus—manuscript variants, the preference accorded to one reading over another, and explanatory notes wherever needed. This is that version.
b. The second version: a clean text stripped of all the aforementioned notes, making it more suitable for memorization.
