2. Written in the hand of one of the author’s pupils.
3. Produced during the author’s lifetime, two years before his death.

This handwritten manuscript is preserved in the Library of the Escorial Museum, Spain, under shelf-mark 1509.

Date of copying: late Rabīʿ al-Awwal 869 AH.
Scribe: Aḥmad b. ʿAlī b. ʿAlī b. ʿAbd Allāh al-Maghrāwī.
Script: clear Andalusi.

Its features:

1. A complete and well-executed copy.
2. Most of the words are vowel-pointed.
3. The scribe distinguished some section headings with darker ink.
4. He left a number of important words blank—apparently intending to write them later in a different ink—but did not return to finish the task, leaving twenty-seven such places empty. I have not flagged these in the marginal notes; this mention here will suffice.
