92 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; he said: Ibrahim narrated to us; he said: my father narrated to me, from al-Aʿmash, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurayrah, who said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“Whoever relieves a Muslim of one of the distresses of this world, Allah will relieve him of a distress from the distresses of the Day ⦗79⦘ of Resurrection. Whoever conceals a Muslim’s faults, Allah will conceal him in this world and the Hereafter. Allah remains at the servant’s aid for as long as the servant is at his brother’s aid. Whoever sets out on a path seeking knowledge, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise. No people gather in one of the houses of Allah, reciting the Book of Allah and studying it among themselves, without tranquillity descending upon them, mercy enveloping them, the angels surrounding them, and Allah mentioning them to those who are with Him. And whoever is slowed down by his deeds will not be sped up by his lineage.”
(92m) ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; he said: ʿAli ibn al-Jaʿd narrated to us; he said: Muhammad ibn Yazid narrated to us, from Bakr ibn Khunays, from ʿAbd Allah ibn Dinar, ⦗80⦘ from one of the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ, who said:
“It was asked, ‘O Messenger of Allah, which people are dearest to Allah?’ He replied, ‘Those who are most beneficial to people. And the deeds most loved by Allah are: delight you bring to a believer—removing a distress from him, paying off his debt, or driving away his hunger. To walk with my Muslim brother concerning a need is dearer to me than to observe retreat in a mosque for two months. Whoever restrains his anger, Allah will cover his faults; and whoever suppresses his rage while able to act upon it, Allah will fill his heart with contentment. Whoever walks with his Muslim brother regarding a need until he secures it for him, Allah will make firm his foot on the Day when feet slip. Indeed, bad character ruins deeds just as vinegar ruins honey.’”
