46 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Muhammad ibn … related to me and said, “I heard Ibn al-Mubarak say:

The hand that dispenses benevolence is pure profit wherever it may be;
It is borne either by an ingrate or by one who is thankful.
No gratitude from the thankful suffices as a full reward for it,
While with Allah remains what the ingrate has denied.”
