24 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; ʿAli ibn al-Jaʿd narrated to us; Salaam ibn Miskin informed us, from ʿUqayl ibn Talha—whose father had been present at nearly all the battles ⦗35⦘ alongside the Prophet ﷺ—reporting from Juray, or Abu Juray, al-Hujaymi, who said:
We asked, “O Messenger of Allah, we are desert folk and would like you to teach us a deed through which Allah may benefit us.” He replied, “Never belittle any act of kindness, even if it is only to pour some water from your bucket into the vessel of one seeking water, or to speak to your brother with a cheerful face turned toward him.”
