165 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; he said: Ahmad ibn Ishaq al-Ahwazi narrated to us; he said: Abu ʿAbd al-Rahman al-Muqriʾ narrated to us; he said: Nuh ibn Jaʿunah al-Sulami, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan, from ʿAtaʾ ibn Abi Rabah, from Ibn ʿAbbas, reported:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered the mosque while repeating: “Who among you would like Allah to protect him from the scorching blast of Hell? Who among you would like Allah to protect him from the scorching blast of Hell?”—he said it three times. They answered, “All of us would, O Messenger of Allah.” He said, “Whoever grants respite to a debtor in hardship, or forgives (part of the debt) for him, Allah will shield him from the scorching blast of Hell.”
