150 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; he said: al-Ḥusayn ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān recited to me:
If I knew of a rank above gratitude—
a station dearer to Allah in reward than thanks—
then I would have bestowed it on you, refined and pure,
matching, step for step, the excellence of the favor you have shown.
١٥٠ - حَدَّثَنَا عبد الله قال وَأَنْشَدَنِي الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ
لَوْ كُنْتُ أَعْرِفُ فَوْقَ الشُّكْرِ مَنْزِلَةً ... أَعْلَى مِنَ الشُّكْرِ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ فِي الثَّمَنِ
إِذًا مَنَحْتُكَهَا مِنِّي مُهَذَّبَةً ... حَذْوِي عَلَى حَذْوِ مَا أَوْلَيْتَ مِنْ حَسَنِ
