Istina' al-Ma'rufIbn Abi al-Dunya

143 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; he said: Ibn ʿAʾishah recited to me:

“I shall go on thanking Amr, so long as my death is deferred,
for benefits he bestowed without begrudging, immense though they were.

A youth whose wealth is never screened from a friend,
nor does he voice complaint when the sandal slips.

He perceived a need whose place was hidden,
and it was a mote in his eye until it was cleared away.”
