120 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; he said: Abu Jaʿfar al-Madini related to me, from a Shaykh of Quraysh, who said: Asmāʾ ibn Khārijah declared:

When the sudden knocks of care kept the youth from sleep,
and thought toiled within me while the night lay thick;
It came to me at dawn, finding no refuge but myself,
No helper against the calamities of time but me.
With my own wealth I cleared away his distress where he stood,
And the intrusive, clinging worry departed from him.

Another poet added:
His very good opinion of me was a favour he bestowed upon me,
For I am grateful to the one who thinks well of me.
