112 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; he said: Ziyad ibn Ayyub said, “Musʿab ibn Salam narrated to us; he said: Abu al-Fadl ibn al-ʿAbbas ibn ʿAbd Allah al-Qurashi told me; he said: ⦗94⦘ ʿAmr ibn Dinar related to me; he said:

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, ‘Seek your needs from people of pleasant countenance. Such a person, if he fulfills your request, fulfills it with a cheerful face, and if he turns you down, he turns you down with a cheerful face. For many a handsome face is found wanting when a need is sought from him, and many an uncomely face proves praiseworthy when a need is requested.’
