101 – [‘Abd Allah narrated to us; he said: al-Ḥusayn ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman narrated to us]—he said: Ibn ‘Āʾishah narrated to us, from Isma‘il ibn ‘Amr al-Bajali; he said: Mandal ibn ‘Ali narrated to us, from Ja‘far ibn Muhammad, from his father, from ‘Ali—may Allah bless him—who reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
“O ‘Ali, be open-handed, for Allah loves generosity. Be courageous, for Allah loves courage. Be protective of your honor, for Allah loves the protective one. And if someone comes to you with a need, then fulfill it; for if he himself is not deserving of having it met, you will have shown yourself worthy of meeting it.”
١٠١ - [حَدَّثَنَا عبد الله قال حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ] قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَائِشَةَ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الْبَجَلِيِّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مَنْدَلُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ صَلَوَاتُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ يَا عَلِيُّ كُنْ سَخِيًّا فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ السَّخَاءَ وَكُنْ شُجَاعًا فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ ﷿ يُحِبُّ الشُّجَاعَ وَكُنْ غَيُورًا فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ ﷿ يُحِبُّ الْغَيُورَ وَإِنِ امْرُؤٌ سَأَلَكَ حَاجَةً فَاقْضِهَا فَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهَا أَهْلًا كُنْتَ أَنْتَ لَهَا أهلا.
