In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful. ⦗1⦘
All praise is due to Allah, who has approved Islam for us as a religion, set up for us a manifest proof of its truth, laid open the path to knowing and believing in it with firm certainty, promised a tremendous reward to whoever fulfills its rulings and guards its limits, and stored up for the one who meets Him with it a generous recompense and a great triumph. He has made it obligatory for us to submit to Him and to His judgments, to cling to its pillars and supports, and to hold fast to its firm handholds and means.
It is His religion, which He chose for Himself, for His prophets, His messengers, and His sanctified angels. Through it ⦗2⦘ the rightly guided found guidance, and to it the prophets and the messengers called ⦗3⦘:
“Do they seek a religion other than Allah’s, while all that is in the heavens and the earth has submitted to Him—willingly or unwillingly—and to Him they shall be returned?” (Q 3:83)
Hence He will accept from no one, whether of the earlier or the later generations, any religion other than this: “Whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted from him, and in the Hereafter he shall be among the losers.” (Q 3:85)
He Himself bore witness that it is His religion before any creature could testify, exalted it ⦗4⦘ and raised its mention, and by it He named its adherents and everything the wombs carry. He, the Exalted, said:
“Allah bears witness that there is no god but He, and so do the angels and those endowed with knowledge—maintaining justice—there is no god but He, the Mighty, the Wise. Truly, the religion in the sight of Allah is Islam.” (Q 3:18–19)
