the author (may Allah have mercy on him), I have traced them back to their printed or manuscript sources, except for a few items whose original manuscripts I was unable to consult. Throughout, I adopted a policy of brevity in commentary and explanation, intervening only when necessary.
Equal attention was given to the layout and handsome presentation of the text, to precise punctuation, and to the indexes that make the book easier to use. In this regard, I extend my sincere thanks to Dr. Muḥammad Ajmal al-Islahi, who prepared all of the indexes, both lexical and analytical.
This is by no means the best that could be achieved; it is merely the effort of one with limited means. The work may still require further refinement, polishing, correction, and adjustment—despite the exertions of the editor and the reviewers, may Allah reward them—for such is the nature of every human endeavor. Each diligent worker receives only a share.
I should also note that many words or phrases in Hebrew appear to have been distorted or miscopied, and I was unable to ascertain their correct forms.
I ask Allah, Exalted be He, to make this work sincere for His sake, in harmony with His law, and acceptable to Him. All praise belongs to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
