Hidāyat al-ḤayārāIbn al-Qayyim

Even before all this, there was the pagan–Jewish alliance in the Prophet’s time during the Battle of the Trench, and the Jewish–Christian conspiracy in the Wars of Apostasy... (1)

And if military warfare is neither the only theatre of confrontation and conflict, nor the guaranteed route to prevailing over the Muslims, nor yet a means recognized as legitimate by international conventions, then there is another arena of combat: the arena of thought and media, of propaganda and information. Let that, then, be their safe and dependable instrument for distortion, confusion, and casting doubt!

This new face of intellectual warfare and civilizational struggle—despite

“I have come to the conclusion that the real danger is Islam! We must settle our disputes with Russia as soon as possible, for Russia—after all—is a European country, and our disagreement with it can be resolved. The conflict for which no settlement is possible is the conflict between us and Islam.” See: Muhammad Qutb, An Islamic View of the Contemporary World, p. 161. (1) During the wars of apostasy (ridda) that erupted after the Prophet’s death, alliances were struck among tribes containing strong Jewish or Christian elements; they attacked the Muslims, but Abu Bakr repelled them and broke their strength. In retaliation, these tribes murdered Muslims living among them without mercy—some were burned alive, others were hurled from lofty cliffs. In truth, these coalitions were a Jewish-Christian conspiracy exploiting pagan sentiments and masking itself as a Bedouin ridda movement. See: Jamil Abdullah al-Masri, The History of Islamic Da‘wa in the Time of the Prophet and the Rightly Guided Caliphs, pp. 244–250; also al-Tabari, History, 3/244 ff. The phenomenon of a pagan–scriptural alliance (Jewish and Christian) deserves serious study; history bears witness to it and contemporary reality confirms it, despite the slogans used to obscure, distort, and deceive.
