And the Torah likewise records: “The Lord said to Moses, ‘I am coming to you in the thick cloud so that the people may hear Me when I speak with you.’” (1)
The other revealed scriptures and the words of the prophets contain many passages of the same kind. (2)
Furthermore, the Seal of the Prophets related from his Lord that He said: “My servant continues to draw near to Me with supererogatory deeds until I love him. When I love him, I become his hearing with which he hears, his sight with which he sees, his hand with which he grasps, and his foot with which he walks; through Me he hears, through Me he sees, (3) through Me he grasps, and through Me he walks.” (4)
If you were to say, “We have declared him a god because of what Zechariah says in his prophecy: ‘Rejoice, daughter of Zion, for I am coming to you; I will dwell in your midst and manifest Myself. On that day many nations will believe in God, and they shall become one people (5) for Him. He will dwell among them, and they will know (6) that I am the Mighty God who abides in you. On that day God will take the kingdom from Judah and will reign over them forever,’” (7)
we reply: If, on the basis of this passage, divinity (8) must be affirmed for him, then it must also be affirmed (9) for Abraham and for others.
