Hidāyat al-ḤayārāIbn al-Qayyim

Some of these sections are found in the Torah that is now in their possession, some in the prophecies of Isaiah, and some in the prophecies of others. “The first Torah” (1) is broader than the particular Torah known today. Allah—glorified be He—had written for Moses on the tablets an admonition about everything and a detailed clarification of every matter; but when he broke them, much of that knowledge was removed while a great deal of good remained. The fact that most of the People of the Book are unaware of this transmission does not detract from its authenticity, for there will always remain in the knowledge inherited from the prophets things known only to a handful of individuals, or even to a single person. Even within this community—despite its closeness in time to its Prophet—there is inherited knowledge from him that is recognized only by a very small number of his nation, while the rest of the people deny it and are ignorant of it.

Kaʿb once heard a man say, “In a dream I saw that mankind had been gathered for the Reckoning. The prophets were called, and each prophet came with his community. I noticed two lights with every prophet, and one light walking before everyone who followed him. Then Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was summoned, and behold—every hair on his head and face emitted a light, and every one of his followers had two lights by which he walked.” Kaʿb asked, “Who related this to you?” He replied, “It is a vision I saw in my sleep.” Kaʿb said, “You really saw this in your dream?” He answered, “Yes.” Kaʿb said, “By Him in whose hand is my soul, this is indeed the description of Muhammad and his community and the description of the prophets and their communities; it is as though I had just read it in the Book of Allah.” (2)

In some ancient scriptures it is reported that Jesus son of Mary—peace and blessings be upon him—was asked, “O Spirit of Allah, will there be a community after this one?” He replied, “Yes.” They asked, “Which community?” He said, “The community of Ahmad.” They asked, “O Spirit of Allah, what is the community of Ahmad?” He replied, “Scholars…"
