—all because they stubbornly cling to Judaism, even though the Torah itself and the rest of the prophetic books have exposed the falsity of their claims.
One of the strangest things is that they forbid God to abrogate any of His own laws—lest, they say, this should imply badāʾ (a change of mind)—yet they go on to assert that He regretted the Flood, wept over it, reversed His decision, and even repented of having created mankind! This mirrors the conduct of their brethren among the worshippers of the cross who declare their monks too pure for wife or child, yet ascribe both to the One, the Self-Sufficient!
They have also conspired to maintain that sovereignty will one day return to them, that every religion will be absorbed into Judaism, and that they will subjugate the adherents of every other creed.
Likewise, they have unanimously agreed to suspend the rulings and obligations of the Torah, abandoning them in most of their affairs save a trifling portion. They freely admit that this wholesale neglect is the chief reason their dominion and honor have been stripped away.
So how can it be deemed improbable (1) that a people who colluded to deny the Messiah, reject his prophethood, slander him and his mother, utter blatant lies against God and His prophets, set aside God’s commands and replace them, and even murder His prophets—should also conspire to tamper with parts of the Torah and to conceal within it the description of Muhammad, the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him?
As for that nation of misguidance—the worshippers of the cross and of the gaudily painted images on their walls, the brethren of swine, those who revile their Creator and Sustainer with the vilest insults and make Him a plaything for Jewish mockery—their mutual agreement upon such enormities, upon every impossibility and absurd falsehood, is itself a sign. There is no deity but God, who has brought into existence a community more astray than donkeys and all other grazing beasts, yet has left them free to go on reviling Him.
